APPNET
Corporate Intranet site for American Pad & Paper LLC

The creation of a corporate-wide intranet site was an idea that just hung around for a few years. Management thought it would be a good idea, but had no idea how to pull it off. I took on the project and developed a site that brought the company headquarters and about seven manufacturing facilities together with a click of the mouse.

Linked to the corporate Windows2000 network and the company mainframe through a report server, the Intranet site saved tens of thousands of dollars per year with online access of reports alone! The savings on paper costs and mailing, management's up-to-the-minute access to reports and access to key plant contacts within the organization allowed the Intranet site to pay for itself ten-fold.

A sense of community was created by furnishing each department and plant with their own areas on the site. An anonymous email forum was developed which let employee concerns be voiced. Employee profiles helped employees at all of the plants to know each other a little better. Forms were developed, online marketing collateral was added, project status pages kept team members accountable. The Human Resources area became a vast resource of employment forms, links to benefits providers and information concerning Company policy and procedures. This was my greatest accomplishment in Web Development.

The APPNET site is only available to employees of American Pad & Paper LLC. Sorry, I wish I could show you more.
